Water Program — On-Farm Irrigation and On-Farm Water Supply
Irrigation: 50% of eligible costs, up to $17,500 per parcel for purchases and up to $6,000 per parcel for upgrades, with a $35,000 applicant/fiscal-year maximum. On-Farm Water Supply: standard incentives up to 50%; $40,000 applicant maximum over Apr. 1, 2023–Mar. 31, 2028 if project-specific maximums are reached.
Who is eligible
Irrigation stream: Alberta primary producer, at least $25,000 annual farm commodity production, owns an irrigated agricultural operation. Water Supply stream: primary producer with at least $25,000 annual farm commodity production and tax liability/eligible farm income conditions.

How to use it
Dugouts, dams and spring developments require contact with an Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation Water Specialist and an approved Construction Sheet before planning/construction. Some projects require water-licence documentation.
Before you apply
- Most Alberta producer cost-share programs ask for a current Environmental Farm Plan. Start it first.
- Applications ask for site facts: water source, soil, wetlands, acreage, and the practice you plan. A free land report gives most of them for the boundary you draw.
