Private Land Conservation Program
Program grants to eligible organizations for term conservation easements and stewardship of conservation land. Fee-simple land acquisition itself is not funded.
Who is eligible
Eligible Alberta land trusts apply; private landowners are encouraged to work with a local land trust.
What it funds
Program grants to eligible organizations for term conservation easements and stewardship of conservation land. Fee-simple land acquisition itself is not funded.
How to use it
The 2026 application requires mapping/aerial imagery delineating forest, shrub, native grassland, riparian/wetland, pasture, cultivation and development pockets—strongly aligned with GIS/landscape assessment services.
Before you apply
- Most Alberta producer cost-share programs ask for a current Environmental Farm Plan. Start it first.
- Applications ask for site facts: water source, soil, wetlands, acreage, and the practice you plan. A free land report gives most of them for the boundary you draw.
- Run the grant eligibility quiz to see which other programs may stack with this one.
