Directory Methodology & Listing Transparency

How the Land Intelligence contractor and supplier directory is compiled, maintained, and verified across Alberta.

1. Purpose of the Directory

The Land Intelligence Directory is an independent, non-commercial informational resource created to help Alberta rural landowners, acreage owners, farmers, and homesteaders discover service providers, contractors, and material suppliers across key land infrastructure domains.

Our goal is to reduce search friction and improve price transparency for critical rural land operations—such as water well drilling, earthworks, off-grid energy, fencing, septic installation, and shelter construction.

Independent Informational Notice

Independent & Unaffiliated: Land Intelligence is an independent, informational directory. We do not charge suppliers to be listed, nor do we accept referral commissions, affiliate fees, or payment for directory rankings. We have no commercial partnerships with any business listed here.

No Endorsement & Not a Party to Transactions: Inclusion in this directory is not an endorsement, recommendation, guarantee, or warranty of contractor capability, licensing status, or quality of work. We are not a party to — and take no part in — any transaction between a landowner and a provider; our listings exist purely for informational purposes.

Preliminary Information: All listings, and any information about a provider's rates, pricing, or offerings, is preliminary. Please contact each business directly to confirm their current rates, availability, licensing, insurance, and offerings before contracting.

Landowner Due Diligence: Landowners must independently verify contractor licensing, insurance, safety records, credentials, and written quotes before entering into agreements or commencing work.

2. Data Sources & Provenance

All initial directory listings are compiled from publicly accessible data sources. We maintain strict provenance standards to ensure all data points are properly attributed:

Public Registries & Associations

Provincial certified professional registries (such as the Alberta Onsite Wastewater Management Association - AOWMA), municipal business directories, and industry trade associations.

Public Web Research

Public company websites, verified Google Business profiles, and published industry listings indicating capabilities and operating locations.

Published Pricing & Benchmarks

Publicly published equipment rates, standard work package estimates from provincial agricultural publications (e.g. AgriProfit$), and regional material price sheets.

Unless explicitly tagged as "Claimed & Verified", all data fields (including business name, phone, website, service areas, and service offerings) are classified as Public Source Information.

3. Listing Statuses Explained

Every profile in our database carries an explicit status indicator:

UNCLAIMED Listing

Default Status: Information compiled strictly from publicly available sources. The business has not yet claimed, edited, or independently verified this profile.

CLAIMED & VERIFIED Listing

The authorized business owner or representative has claimed the listing, confirmed operating territories, updated equipment/capabilities, and verified direct contact channels.

4. Service Area Qualification

Service area descriptions and geographic coverage maps displayed in the directory represent estimated operational territories based on:

All service areas for unclaimed profiles are qualified as: "Service area based on publicly available information and/or Land Intelligence research." Contractors may travel further or have specific municipal exclusions; landowners should confirm availability directly.
